Club Whitsunday Young Gun: Reef Peel

Some kids play sport. Others somehow manage to play all of them… and play them well.

Reef Peel is exactly that kind of athlete, and we’re proud to announce him as the very first winner of the Club Whitsunday Young Gun Award.

From football to futsal to darts (yes, darts), Reef brings the same calm focus, work ethic and competitive edge every time he steps up. He’s the type of player coaches trust, teammates respect and younger kids look up to – even if he doesn’t make a big song and dance about it himself.

Reef’s sporting journey has already taken him well beyond the Whitsundays. He’s been selected as an Under 16s Futsal All-Star, represented Australian All-Stars internationally in Fiji and the UK, and is heading to Spain as part of the Australian futsal pathway. For a local kid, that’s pretty special.

Closer to home, the respect keeps stacking up. In 2025, Reef was named Coach’s Player for the Whitsunday United Football Club Premiers team – an award that says a lot about consistency, attitude and doing the little things right. He was also voted Frayne House Captain in Year 12, recognising leadership off the field as much as on it. And just to keep everyone guessing, Reef also added a 2025 Darts Premiership win to his list. Turns out pressure is pressure, whether it’s on a pitch or at the dartboard.

What makes Reef such a great fit for the Club Whitsunday Young Gun Award is not just his talent, but how grounded he remains. He still shows up locally, values his coaches and volunteers, and understands the role community sport plays in shaping opportunities.

From all of us at Club Whitsunday, congratulations Reef!

We’re stoked to have you as our first-ever Young Gun Award winner, and we can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next. This is only the beginning.
